“Site was very clean. Bathrooms were clean as well. Would definitely recommend.”
“One of the best state parks I have used. Great lake views, paved streets, really nice paved parking pads, not crowded, treed lots. I wish I had more days to stay.”

Buckhorn Creek Campground sits on the shoreline of Lake O' the Pines in the piney woods of northeast Texas, in the Ark-La-Tex region near Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The reservoir here created by Ferrell's Bridge Dam on Big Cypress Bayou stretches across five counties and offers broad water-based recreation: a boat ramp and courtesy dock put you on the 18,700 acres of lake for boating, water sports, and fishing for largemouth, spotted and white bass, crappie, catfish and sunfish; bank-fishing spots and the area below the dam on Big Cypress Bayou are popular for anglers who prefer to stay shore-side. Wildlife viewing is a strong draw year-round bring binoculars for resident and migratory birds and the wintering bald eagles that are commonly seen and nearby public lands provide hunting opportunities for white-tailed deer, waterfowl and small game. For directions or quick questions, the park's gate house (address 2669 FM 726, Jefferson, TX 75657) is open 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Monday Saturday and noon 6 p.m. Sunday; check there or the park's official information for current fees, reservation windows and seasonal access details before you arrive. The campground's layout and amenities aim to serve a mix of RVers and tent campers: of the 94 campsites, 10 are configured for both RVs and tents, 46 are RV sites and 38 are tent sites. RV sites provide water and electric hookups, while the non-electric tent sites include a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring and lantern post; restrooms with showers are located in each section of the park, and the site area includes trash receptacles, a sewer dump station, a playground and picnic areas for daytime use. Beyond the lake itself, Buckhorn Creek is a convenient base for exploring nearby historic towns Jefferson and Marshall host antique shopping, Mardi Gras Upriver, an Annual Historic Pilgrimage, the Christmas Candlelight Tour, Stagecoach Days and seasonal festivals plus scenic drives along Texas Wildflower Trail routes. If you need reservations, current rules, or group-concession details, contact the gate house during posted hours or consult the park's online resources before planning your trip.
