Bear Creek Campground sits on the south side of Benbrook Lake where Bear Creek cuts into wooded hillsides and prairie meadows above the water. The campground has a total of 47 campsites, and each site is configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, so families, truck campers and traditional tent campers can use the same loops. Site options include full hookups with water plus 50/30 amp electric ($28) or electric-only sites without water ($26); a large group shelter with water and 30 amp service is available for $125. Practical amenities on site include restrooms with showers, a trailer dump station and a boat launch, and the campground supports both individual and group camping during the April through September season. Note that the campground closes at 10:00 p.m.; for current availability, reservations and further details call (817) 292-2400 (local) or (877) 444-6777 (general). The setting favors outdoor activity: boat launching from Bear Creek gives direct access to Benbrook Lake for water sports and fishing, while the surrounding hills and prairie attract white-tailed deer, hawks, owls, roadrunners and woodpeckers for easy wildlife viewing close to camp. Beyond the immediate campground you'll find the larger Benbrook Lake recreation area that supports picnicking, playgrounds, specialized sport sites and other concession-run recreation, and the lake is an easy drive from southwest Fort Worth close enough that the Cultural & Museum District, Stockyards, Botanical Gardens, zoo and downtown attractions are a practical day trip.
