Long Branch Campground sits just downstream of Center Hill Dam on the Caney Fork River, in the mixed-hardwood hills of Tennessee's Highland Rim. The campground provides 59 campsites total: 56 sites configured for both RV and tent use and 3 RV-only sites, and many sites are equipped with water and 50-amp electric hookups. On-site conveniences include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a boat ramp, fish-cleaning station, a playground and a large day-use group picnic shelter with water and electric service, so you can plan everything from a simple overnight to a family gathering without leaving the loop. The river below the dam is managed for trout, and anglers come specifically for rainbow and brown trout fly anglers and spin casters both find productive water here while paddlers commonly launch canoes and kayaks for short floats and sightseeing along the Caney Fork. Visitors who want to stretch a day off the campsite will find plenty nearby: the Buffalo Valley Nature Trail lies just across the river and gives easy access to prime trout water and wildlife viewing, and the Center Hill Lake Resource Managers Office and Buffalo Valley Recreation Area are close by for current conditions. Edgar Evins State Park and the Joe L. Evins Appalachian Center for Crafts sit on the lake a few minutes' drive away; the park's visitor-center observation tower provides a wide view of Center Hill Lake, which extends 64 miles upstream and offers 415 miles of wooded shoreline for boating, water sports and hiking. Other recreation across the Center Hill Lake area includes biking, auto touring, environmental-education programs, picnicking, historic and cultural sites, and resort or concession services. Check the park website or contact the resource managers for up-to-date information on fees, reservation policies and seasonal openings before you go; Long Branch is accessed from SR-141 off the I-40 exit 268 corridor near the downstream end of Center Hill Dam.
