“We enjoyed that this site was isolated. Plenty of room for tents on both sides of the parking lot. Several cooking options with grills and two fire pits. We were a group of 20 and it worked very well for us.”
“The park rangers and staff were absolutely wonderful human beings! The grounds and bathrooms were perfectly kept. This was a wonderful experience for everyone! THANK YOU! ”
“Campground was clean. Black Hills were beautiful. ”

Sheridan North Cove Group Campground sits among tall Ponderosa pines along the north shore of Sheridan Lake, about 22 miles south of Rapid City via US-16 and SD-385. The campground is configured for groups: there are four group sites, each designed to accommodate tents and RVs and equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, and potable water; electrical hookups are not available. The north shore marina is adjacent to the campground and supplies boat slip rentals, groceries and fishing gear, and the site also includes a large swimming beach, a boat launch, picnic areas and fishing piers. If you need facility-specific details or to reserve the Ollie Otter group site, call the park office at 605-574-4402; note the park's cancellation policy specifies no refunds for weather or weather-related events. Recreation radiates outward from the lake and into the wider Black Hills National Forest. At the campground you can launch a boat for waterskiing, swim off the beach, or fish for rainbow and brown trout, northern pike and perch; fly fishing is especially productive in Spring Creek below the dam, and ice fishing draws anglers in winter. Trail access is close by: the Dakota Point Trailhead of the Centennial Trail and the Calumet Trailhead for the Flume Trail are on Sheridan Lake's northeast side the Flume Trail itself traces an 11-mile (plus a 3-mile loop) route along the historic Rockerville Flume with visible artifacts and interpretive interest. All seasons offer something here summer and early fall bring hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and OHV use in designated areas, while winter opens options for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling and wildlife viewing is strong year-round, from elk and deer to osprey and bald eagles. Nearby day-trip destinations include Jewel Cave, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park, making Sheridan North Cove a practical base for exploring the western Black Hills.
