“Even with no electricity, the park was amazing. Very clean and well maintained, I really appreciate the effort the COE put into their facilities here. ”

Twin Cove Point sits on the shore of Birch Lake, a 1,137-acre impoundment on Birch Creek in Osage County, just south of Barnsdall off Highway 11. The park's shoreline moves from gentle slopes to steeper banks with rocky outcrops, and the hilltops are covered in small hardwoods post oak, blackjack, other oaks, hickory, hackberry and elm so most sites get a mix of sun and shade. Grasses and wildflowers bloom in spring and fall, and the lake supports a range of water- and shore-based recreation: anglers target largemouth, smallmouth, spotted and hybrid striped bass, walleye, black and white crappie, channel and flathead catfish, and sunfish; hunters in the broader area pursue bobwhite quail, mourning dove, squirrels, cottontail rabbit and whitetail deer. Boating, water sports, swimming and wildlife viewing are all part of the Birch Lake experience, and the lake's modest size makes it easy to plan a half-day or full-day outing without long runs between coves. As a day-use area with limited overnight options, Twin Cove Point provides several facilities that suit family gatherings and small groups: three group picnic shelters (each seating up to 30 people), a swim beach, a boat ramp with a courtesy dock, a playground and roughly 40 individual picnic sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. For campers there are three primitive tent sites; these sites are available during the park's normal operating season and are not available for advance reservation, so plan on first-come, first-served arrival if you want to overnight. The site's layout and basic amenities make it a good base for fishing outings, a family picnic followed by a swim, or launching small boats and kayaks; check with park staff or the official park website for current operating season dates, fees, and any access rules before you go.
