Pulltite Campground sits where the Current River threads through rolling, oak-and-shortleaf-pine forests, and the river's clear, spring-fed water runs right past the sites. That proximity makes Pulltite a strong base for paddling the Current and nearby Jacks Fork are among the park's chief attractions for canoeing, tubing, swimming and fishing and canoe and kayak outfitters are available close by. Hikers and riders will find several trailheads within easy reach, including segments of the Ozark Trail and local routes like Alley Overlook, Chubb Hollow, Cave Spring and Big Springs trails, while wildlife viewing, hunting and auto touring are all common ways people explore the larger Riverways. A distinctive local feature is the historic Pulltite Cabin across the river beside Pulltite Spring; it can only be reached by boat or by wading, which makes visiting it a small adventure in itself. The park's karst landscape hundreds of springs, sinkholes and more than 300 cataloged caves, plus seasonal displays of redbud and dogwood gives the area a varied, textured feel from riverbank to forest ridge. The campground itself contains 58 sites: 55 are suitable for both RVs and tents and three are tent-only. Sites are arranged in three numbered groupings Sites 1 15 (15 sites), Sites 16 30 (15 sites) and Sites 31 55 (25 sites) and roads and parking spurs are paved for easier access. Pulltite is open year-round and provides basic conveniences: picnic tables, fire rings and grills at each site, plus flush toilets throughout the year and showers available seasonally from April 15 through October 15. A small amphitheater hosts ranger-led campfire programs during summer months; the site is unstaffed, so for up-to-date information on fees, reservations and regulations call the park's main office at (573) 323-4236. To reach Pulltite, follow Highway 19 south from Salem for about 32 miles and turn onto EE; the campground sits at the end of EE Highway, close to Round Spring Cave and the historic Alley Spring and mill, making it a practical jumping-off point for river trips and nearby cultural sites.
