“We always enjoy camping here. The grounds are very well kept. The lake is good fishing and swimming. ”

“We always have a wonderful time a Loggers Lake. Such a beautiful place. Thanks to the Civilian Conservation Corps for building and thanks to the US Forest Service for maintaining it. I’m already looking forward to my return. ”

About

Logger's Lake Campground sits along the southeast shore of a 22-acre, spring-fed lake in the interior forests of southeastern Shannon County. The lake and its shores date to 1942 and are managed as a fishery, making the site a quiet draw for anglers pursuing largemouth bass, sunfish and channel catfish from shore or a canoe. The small day-use area on the lake includes a modest swim beach, picnic tables and grills, plus two boat ramps for non-motorized craft and a barrier-free fishing pier for easier bank access. Clear springs and small creeks thread the surrounding woodland, and every campsite looks out across the water with only light vegetation between your site and the lake, so mornings and evenings tend to be strongly oriented around the water. The campground contains 11 campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents, each equipped with a picnic table, a fire ring and a tent pad; some sites also have lantern posts. Drinking water and vault toilets are located centrally rather than at each site, so amenities are basic but functional. Group camping is offered at Oak Knoll (group site GS01) fees are $15 per night for groups of 1 25 people, or $30 per night for 26 50 people. Access is by county and forest roads south of Highway 72 near the MO A junction, so expect a rural drive on unpaved roads as you approach Logger's Lake; check local road and seasonal conditions before you go. Onsite activity highlights are fishing, non-motorized boating, swimming and picnicking; the wider Mark Twain National Forest adds opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, OHV use, hunting, wildlife viewing and auto touring. For up-to-date seasonal availability, reservation rules and any seasonal closures, contact the Mark Twain National Forest office or consult the forest's recreation website before planning your trip.
