Alley Spring Campground sits in the rolling oak-and-shortleaf-pine hills where two of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways' spring-fed rivers meet, offering immediate access to clear water, springs, caves and forested trails. The campground is open year-round and is unstaffed; for questions call the park office at (573) 323-4236. Roads and individual parking spurs are paved, and visitors will find flush toilets on site with hot showers available seasonally from April 15 through October 15. Campsites are arranged across nine loops Loop 100 (15 sites), Loop 200 (6 sites), Loop 300 (13 sites), Loop 400 (14 sites), Loop 500 (13 sites), Loop 600 (28 sites), Loop 700 (14 sites), Loop 800 (31 sites) and Loop 900 (26 sites) totaling 163 sites. Of those, 160 are configured to accept both RVs and tents while three are tent-only, and a small campground amphitheater hosts ranger-led campfire programs during the summer months. The campground puts you within a short walk of a popular Jacks Fork swimming spot and close to Alley Spring and the historic Alley Mill, where the mill is open daily in summer and rangers will conduct tours on request. The greater Riverways offer more than 130 miles (209 km) of water trails for canoeing, paddling, tubing and fishing; local outfitters provide canoe and kayak rentals nearby. On land, interpretive paths and longer hikes including the Alley Overlook Trail, Chubb Hollow Trail, the Ozark Trail, Cave Spring Trail and Big Springs Trail wind through sycamore, cottonwood and maple along the rivers and redbud and dogwood that color the spring understory. The park contains more than 300 identified caves (eight of them designated outstanding natural features), and recreational opportunities across the Riverways include auto touring, camping, fishing, hiking, historic and cultural sites, horse camping, hunting and wildlife viewing. The campground is easily reached from the Eminence area just west of State Highway 106, with regional access from Winona and Mountain View via US Highway 60.
