“Well maintained, staffed and organized. See you next year!”
“Amazing group site. Had nice male, female, family showers and restrooms. Had water near the pavillion. Had lots of picnic tables and nice fire pit. Nice path down to the lake. ”

Fall Lake Campground sits on the shore of Fall Lake about 100 miles north of Duluth in Minnesota's Arrowhead region, just a short drive north of Ely off County Road 182 (Fall Lake Road). The site count is substantial for a northern Minnesota campground: TOTAL CAMPSITES: 62, of which 52 accommodate both RVs and tents and 10 are tent-only sites. Many of the RV-capable sites include pull-through options and trees between sites provide a measure of privacy; the facility is also described as very accessible. Some campsites can be reserved while others remain first-come, first-served, and a campground host is on-site during the season. On-site conveniences make camp life simple there's a store, canoe rentals, firewood and ice and the campground opens in early May, timed to the walleye season. Loop information lists Voyageurs: 1 sites and Woodlands: 1 sites. Recreation centers on the lake and the immediate forest: Fall Lake provides direct access into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (permits required for BWCAW entry), while portions of the lake outside the wilderness are open to unrestricted boating. Anglers will find smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, crappie, perch and bluegill; families gravitate to the swimming beach, playground, picnic area and a nearby 1.5-mile hiking trail. Birdwatching and wildlife viewing are reliable here among pine, aspen and fir, and the visitor center displays replica artifacts from archaeological digs in the area for those interested in local history. Beyond the campground the Superior National Forest supports a wide range of activities auto touring, biking, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, winter sports and even overnight stays in fire lookouts/cabins and popular regional attractions include the Dorothy Molter Museum, International Wolf Center, North American Bear Center, Ely-Winton History Museum, Soudan Mine and, of course, the extensive canoe routes and campsites of the Boundary Waters. For up-to-date reservation details, fees and BWCAW permit information, check the Superior National Forest recreation guides and maps before you go.
