“We love the campground but do find that it can be overcrowded especially sites 9 & 10. ”
“Such a lovely area. I was disappointed that the solar water station was not functioning during my stay. I will definitely bring my kayak next time to take advantage of the gorgeous waters…my mission this trip; was blue berry picking.”
“Campsite 8. Nice spot for tent and had water access. It rained about 3 inches overnight and our tent sight had good drainage. Nice small quiet campground and beautiful lake.”

Jeanette Lake Campground sits on a narrow peninsula that reaches into the glacier-sculpted Lake Jeanette in Superior National Forest, and its simple layout and 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps work give it an old-fashioned, compact feel. The developed loop contains 12 campsites in total: nine sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and three that are tent-only. Most sites offer a view of the water and a few are right on the lakeshore; campsites are generally close together so privacy is fair unless you choose one of the walk-in tent sites, which are notably more secluded. The site vegetation is a mix of hardwoods, pine and spruce with a mown understory of fern and grass, and scattered glacial erratics add a mossy, rocky character to the shoreline. Practical details to note: some sites are reservable while others are first-come, first-served (the campground as described includes six reservable standard sites, four FCFS standard sites and two FCFS tent-only sites), walk-in tent sites have a backcountry latrine nearby (bring toilet paper), and in addition to the 12 developed sites the lake has six dispersed backcountry campsites that are first-come, first-served and reachable only by boat. The lake itself is small enough to explore by paddle and varied enough to reward a day on the water: the winding shoreline and small islands make canoeing or kayaking pleasant, and anglers can expect walleye, northern pike and perch. A short on-foot option is the Astrid Lake Hiking Trail accessed from the campground, and the broader Superior National Forest stretching along the U.S. Canada border in Minnesota's Arrowhead offers hiking, boating, fishing, wildlife viewing and year-round opportunities such as auto touring, biking, swimming, winter sports and even access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Jeanette Lake is reached from the general Orr/Buyck area via County Roads 23/24 and the Echo Trail, and visitors should consult the Forest Service recreation maps and guides for current information on reservations, fees, seasonal access and route details before traveling.
