“Great group camp sight right by the bathrooms. ”
“Everything is good there except the road coming in to campground and road to boat landing needs to be graded. Campsites need class 5 gravel and leveled.”

Echo Lake Campground sits on the south shore of a 1,222-acre lake at the west end of the Echo Trail, a remote country road that cuts through the western portion of Superior National Forest. The campsite ring is shaded by a mix of aspen, balsam, spruce, maple and pine, so many sites feel tucked into young trees and lush groundcover that also provide privacy between neighbors; heavy vegetation can limit direct lake views from some sites, but a network of short trails leads to the water. A sand beach and a paved boat ramp make the lake readily accessible for swimming, boating and canoeing, and anglers will find walleye, northern pike, panfish, black crappie, white sucker and yellow perch in the water. Hikers will appreciate nearby routes such as the 1.5-mile Echo Lake Trail and the longer Echo Lake Hunters Walking Trail, and the campground can serve as a quiet base for longer day trips to spots like Voyageurs National Park, Crane Lake and Vermillion Falls. The campground has 22 sites total all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and offers a mix of reservation and first-come, first-served options: 13 reservable sites (12 standard sites plus one group site that holds up to 21 people) and 9 first-come, first-served spots. Three additional free, boat-access only dispersed sites are located around the lake for those arriving by water. Sites are non-electric; basic on-site amenities include vault toilets, solar-powered potable water, picnic tables, garbage service and campfire rings. Because the Echo Trail is a remote forest road, access can feel more isolated than the resort areas farther north RVs and trailers are welcome, but check the Superior National Forest website or contact the ranger district for current reservation procedures, fees and seasonal road or campground notices before you go.
