Cumberland Point Campground sits on the shore of Lake Cumberland, its campsites shaded by mature hardwoods and looking out over the lake's broad main body. The site contains 31 campsites in total: 29 sites configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and two tent-only sites, spread across a compact parcel that also includes a day-use area, a picnic shelter and public parking. Practical facilities are straightforward and well-maintained you'll find flush toilets, hot showers, potable drinking water and a dump station on site and a boat ramp and a small playground are located within the park for quick access to the water and family-friendly recreation. Note that entrance and exit roads into the campground have a moderate to severe grade; drivers of long or low-clearance RVs should approach with care and plan accordingly. Recreation here centers on Lake Cumberland's open water and shoreline: anglers can try for largemouth, smallmouth, Kentucky and white bass, bluegill, crappie, rockfish and walleye, while boaters and water-sports enthusiasts will appreciate the miles of navigable water and plentiful shoreline to explore. Trails and wooded cover offer opportunities for short hikes and wildlife viewing right from camp, while broader-area activities around the reservoir include horseback riding, environmental education programs, historic and cultural sites, and visitor centers or privately run lodges and concession operations. The Mill Springs Battlefield Park, a Civil War interpretive site with exhibits and a driving tour, is about a 20-minute drive from the campground. Fees, reservation rules and seasonal availability can vary, so check the park's official information before you go; bringing an extra margin of time for the steep access road and planning boat launches during busy summer weekends will make the visit smoother.
