“I just wish the beach would have been open.”
“Very nice quiet campground. During the week was almost empty but filled up on the weekend. Best sites for big rigs was in the back loop. No electric sites near water only primitive sites. Only store close by was general dollar anything else was 35 minutes away. ”

North Fork Campground sits on the north shore of Rough River Lake in south-central Kentucky, with the five-thousand-acre reservoir cutting through rolling, forested hills of sandstone, shale and limestone. The shoreline here shows the same karst terrain that characterizes the region sinks, small caverns and limestone exposures and the lake attracts migratory songbirds and waterfowl as well as anglers chasing bass, crappie and catfish; bass tournaments are held on the lake throughout the year. Nearby cultural points of interest include the historic Green Farm estate (with its ancestral home, old water-powered mill and the Lafayette Green golf course) and, about an hour's drive away, Mammoth Cave National Park. Pontoon, jon-boat and jet-ski rentals are available at the marinas around the lake for anyone who wants to spend a day on the water. The campground itself contains 81 sites: 79 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites, and 50 sites are equipped with electric hookups. Sites are arranged in six loops Loop A (14 sites), Loop B (10), Loop C (8), Loop D (14), Loop E (20) and Loop F (13) with several waterfront sites and many others a short walk from the shore. On-site amenities include a dump station, showers, a playground, a public beach and swimming area, two group shelters, a boat ramp, a fishing pier, a basketball court and a day-use picnic area; Wi-Fi is available from an outside provider for an additional fee. Rough River also supports a range of activities around the lake boating, fishing, hiking, environmental education, picnicking, water sports and wildlife viewing and there are privately owned lodging and other concession services nearby. For facility-specific questions or to make reservations call (270) 257-8139; note reservation changes or cancellations carry a $10 service fee, cancellations made the day before through the day after arrival will also incur the first night's use fee, no-shows are charged $20 plus the first night's use fee, and single-night reservations charged the first night's use fee are not additionally assessed the $10/$20 service fees.
