“Beautiful area, great view of the lake. Just need to look out for low tree branches so they don’t hit the top of the trailer and tear the roof”
“The site is nice, it has shade and is peaceful and quiet.”

Dam Site Campground sits on the upstream side of John Redmond Dam within a 168-acre park carved into the rolling Neosho River Valley. From the hilltops you'll see patchwork fields of wheat and corn and stretches of native grasses big bluestem, Indian grass and switchgrass while the lower draws hold elm, black walnut, hickory, ash, hackberry, cottonwood and cedar. The campsite area itself includes 23 sites in total: 21 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and two tent-only sites, plus two CXTs, a shower house, a playground and two day-use shelter houses. Water access is immediate from camp with two boat ramps (one single-lane ramp with a courtesy dock and one double-lane ramp), which makes launching for a morning on the water straightforward. Practical details to note: standard check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out is 4 p.m. Recreation at John Redmond Reservoir spreads across a large footprint the reservoir and associated recreation lands are described at around 30,000 acres and the area supports boating, fishing, hunting, hiking and wildlife viewing. Anglers will find abundant white crappie, white bass, channel and flathead catfish and a variety of sunfish, while several trails run along the shore and through the surrounding hills; an Otter Creek ATV area at the west end of the dam provides about 140 acres of trails for dirt bikes and ATVs and is open from sunrise to sunset. The campground supports day-use picnicking and playground activity, and the shelter houses are handy for group meals after a long hike or a day on the water. For access, Dam Site is a short drive north of Burlington on US-75, then west on Embankment Road to the park entrance; Burlington provides gas, groceries and hospital services. Fees and reservations are handled via QR code scan, by phone (Phone R1S) or through the online reservation system.
