Springy Point Campground sits among firs, cedars and pines on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, with open views across the Pend Oreille River to the Cabinet and Selkirk mountain ranges. The campground contains 39 sites in total: 36 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 3 tent-only sites, arranged close to the water so most campsites have easy beach access. On-site facilities include drinking water, flush toilets and showers, plus a small picnic shelter that holds up to 25 people (reservations for the shelter can be made by calling 208-437-3133). A concrete boat ramp at the campground puts the lake within immediate reach, and the site's proximity to US-95 and the Long Bridge makes Sandpoint's marina, parks and shops only a short ride or a pleasant bike/hike across the bridge. Water-based recreation is the main draw here: paddling, fishing, water skiing and jet skiing are all common from the campground's beach and ramp, and there's a large swimming area for easier water access. For land-based options, you can pedal or walk across the Long Bridge into Sandpoint for dining and errands, or drive a short distance to the Pack River area for birding and occasional moose sightings. The Albeni Falls Visitor Center, a short drive away, offers exhibits about the dam and daily dam tours in summer. The lake itself is part of a glacier-carved valley that runs about 65 miles behind Albeni Falls Dam, and visitors often remark on the dramatic mountain backdrop and clear, deep water. Practical details such as nightly fees, reservation windows and seasonal openings aren't listed here, so check with the park office or the managing agency before you go to confirm current rates and availability.
