“Very friendly camp host and the facility is very well kept. Enjoyed the busy weekend and also the quiet nights. The bike paths were also a highlight.”
“Nice park, good facilities, very pretty area-could see the lake at various places. Our site had an extreme slope so our front motorhome tires were off the ground a foot. But otherwise very nice.”

Cherry Glen Campground sits on a compact 13-acre wooded ridge on the east side of Saylorville Lake and is the oldest and most popular campground on the lake. The facility offers 125 total campsites 125 that accommodate both RVs and tents with electric hookups at every site. Basic comforts are on hand: flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water and a dump station, plus family-friendly features such as playgrounds, group shelters and seasonal educational programs. A boat ramp adjacent to the campground makes launching easy, and the wider Saylorville project adds an accessible fishing pier, visitor center and a disc golf course within a short drive or bike ride. The lake itself stretches more than 50 miles up the Des Moines River Valley and supports a wide range of activities: powerboating, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, swimming and winter sports on the water and shore. Anglers can target walleye, wiper, largemouth bass, catfish, crappie and northern pike, and wildlife viewers will see white-tailed deer, wild turkeys and waterfowl throughout the area. The paved Neal Smith Trail, a 24-mile National Recreation Trail that links Des Moines to Big Creek State Park, passes the campgrounds on the east side and is popular for biking, hiking, jogging and in-line skating. Cherry Glen is reached from the Ankeny/Highway 415 corridor on the east side of Saylorville Lake; because fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability can change, check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or park website for current rates, reservation policies and any access notices before you go.
