“Great get away I love the fact that there is no phone service . I am on my phone with work all day long and it was so nice to get away from all the hustle and bustle . You can go to the top of the mountain and get service to check in if needed .”
“The campground was very clean. My specific campsite was small but I knew that when I reserved it. The area is absolutely gorgeous! Right along the river so you have access to it very easily. I can't wait to come back again! ”

Perched along the banks of Cooper Creek in the North Georgia Mountains, Cooper Creek Campground sits inside the larger Cooper Creek Wildlife Management Area of the Chattahoochee National Forest, close to the North Carolina line. The loop contains 25 campsites all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and most are set far enough apart to give a decent level of privacy. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups, no showers and no dump station, and potable water is provided only seasonally (April 1 through October 31); when the system is winterized (November 1 March 31) fees are reduced, so plan to bring your own water or filtration if you visit in the off season. Facilities are minimal but maintained: two vault toilets serve the campground (one near site 23 in the Cooper Creek loop and one near site 5 in the Mulky loop), and Mulky Loop sits about one-tenth of a mile south of the main Cooper Creek loop. For supplies and last-minute gear, towns such as Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Dahlonega are the nearest larger centers, while the Cooper Creek Store roughly five miles south carries essentials. The campground is a base for creek-side recreation: trout fishing is a major draw year-round along Cooper Creek, and several short, interconnected trails begin at or very near the campground so forming a loop hike is straightforward. Key local routes include the Yellow Mountain Trail (3.2 miles), the Connector Trail (0.4 miles), Mill Shoals Trail (0.9 miles), Shope Gap Trail (0.6 miles) and Cooper Creek Trail (1.7 miles); the nearby Duncan Ridge Trail provides a longer, more challenging option. The surrounding Wildlife Management Area covers more than 30,000 acres and supports hunting for deer, bear, turkey and small game during appropriate seasons, plus roughly eight miles of easy-to-moderate hiking on former logging roads and footpaths through mixed hardwood, pine and hemlock stands. If this campground is full, Deep Hole Campground on the Toccoa River is about 15 minutes south and can be reserved on recreation.gov; for current fees, reservation policies and any seasonal advisories, check with the Forest Service before you go.
