Morganton Point sits on the eastern shore of Lake Blue Ridge in the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest, where aquamarine water meets forested foothills and more than 60 miles of shoreline. The 3,290-acre reservoir is open to motor boats, jet skis and non-motorized craft, and the campground's day-use trails including a lakeshore path make short walks and shoreline views easy to access. Anglers come here for a variety of bass and other freshwater species (check Georgia DNR for current regulations), and a designated swimming area with beach access, picnic tables, outdoor showers and trash collection keeps families comfortable on warm days. Longer hikes are available nearby: the Appalachian Trail and the Benton MacKaye corridor pass through Fannin County and can be reached from roads close to the campground, and the broader national forest offers biking, horseback riding, OHV areas, fire lookouts/cabins, wildlife viewing and visitor-center resources for trip planning. The campground itself has 43 sites in total 35 sites configured for both RVs and tents and 8 tent-only sites (several of which are walk-in) so you'll find a mix of vehicle-accessible pitches and quieter tent spots. Each site comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring with grill; drinking water and accessible showers are provided in the facilities, and the beach area includes additional picnic seating and outdoor rinse-off showers. Fees vary by site type: Standard Non-Electric $18.00, Standard Electric $27.00, and Standard Electric Double $45.00. Some sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis; for current reservation policies, seasonal access or more detailed amenity questions contact the Blue Ridge Ranger District before you go. The campground is located just south of the small town of Morganton about a mile from town services and roughly 15 minutes east of Blue Ridge for grocery or fuel runs.
