What guests say

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (544 reviews, ★ 5.0). Not written or edited by us.

“The sites at this park are really nice and large. The camp hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. We like this park because it isn't too far from home so it allows us to have quick little get aways! ”

Holly S 4 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“We lost a cell phone and everyone at the campground (ranger, camp hosts, and campers) helped us find our phone. Thank you all so much.”

About

Whitetail Ridge Campground sits on the western shore of West Point Lake, about a short drive west of LaGrange along State Route 109, just past the first bridge across the reservoir. The campground occupies forested shoreline overlooking the roughly 25,900-acre lake (just over 40 square miles) and the rolling fields and woods that fringe the Chattahoochee River valley. There are 58 total campsites 58 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites each with electric and water hookups, and the park also provides a dump station, laundry facilities and hot showers for longer stays. Sites are organized into multiple loops; two identified loops are LOOA (10 sites) and LOOE (10 sites), while the remaining sites are distributed among other sections of the campground. For reservations and payments note that only credit, debit or prepaid credit cards are accepted, and changes or cancellations incur a $10 service fee (late cancellations may carry additional charges per the R1S Reservation Policy). The campground is a practical base for the lake's wide range of outdoor activities: boating from one of the 34 public boat ramps around the lake or from two privately owned full-service marinas, shore and pier fishing for bass, catfish, crappie and bream, and hiking and mountain biking on trails such as the Lakeside Trail. Anglers will find bank fishing and accessible fishing piers nearby at Hardley Creek, Rocky Point and McGee Bridge parks, and there's a small pond at Hardley Creek set up for preteens and visitors with disabilities. Beyond water sports and fishing, the larger West Point Lake area supports wildlife viewing, environmental education, horseback riding and even managed hunting on a nearly 10,000-acre wildlife management area at the lake's upper end; 21 day-use parks around the lake add courts, ball fields, playgrounds, picnic shelters and specialized recreation sites for family outings.
