Amity Campground sits on the western shore of West Point Lake, its campsites tucked into a forested band that looks out over the lake's 25,900 acres. The terrain around the campground mixes rolling fields and deep hardwoods that put on a strong display in fall, and the park sits along a 35-mile stretch of the Chattahoochee River that forms the Alabama Georgia line. There are 75 reservable campsites in the loop: 72 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and provide electric and water hookups, plus 3 tent-only, non-electric sites for simpler stays. On-site recreation includes a playground and courts for basketball and tennis, and easy access from County Road 393 when approaching from the West Point area (about a seven-mile drive north on Stateline Road/County Road 212). Note that the campground accepts credit, debit, or prepaid cards only, and reservation changes or cancellations carry a $10 service fee; late cancellations may incur additional charges under the R1S reservation policy. The lake is the draw here: Amity has one of the 34 public boat ramps around West Point Lake, and the lake's 525 miles of shoreline and dozen feeder creeks create abundant boating and fishing opportunities. Anglers will find bass, catfish, crappie and bream throughout the area, and several parks around the lake Hardley Creek, Rocky Point and McGee Bridge offer public fishing piers with accessible design; Hardley Creek also maintains a pond for preteens and visitors with disabilities. Trails wind along the water and through the woods (the Lakeside Trail is popular with mountain bikers), and the broader recreation complex includes 21 day-use parks, picnic shelters, horseback riding, water sports, wildlife viewing and environmental education options; two privately owned marinas provide additional services for boaters. Because most sites at Amity are reservable, plan ahead if you need hookups or a weekend slot, and keep the card-only payment policy and cancellation fee in mind when booking.
