What guests say

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (84 reviews, ★ 5.0). Not written or edited by us.

“The camp sites and bathrooms are meticulously maintained. The bathrooms are clean and don't smell bad. The hosts are friendly. All you could expect, plus its a beautiful setting, I camp there several times a year and the conditions are consistently excellent”

Gary W 5 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Campsites were nice but close together. A little small and some of them flooded with rain. ”

Christine W 4 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Great campsite but way too many flies in the latrine. Firewood was expensive but camp hosts were nice. ”

About

Peaceful Valley sits at about 8,500 feet in a broad glacial basin along the Middle Saint Vrain Creek, where a mix of conifers and quaking aspen frames open grassy meadows and the creek runs clear enough for fly-fishing. The campground contains 16 sites in total 11 that will accommodate both RVs and tents and 5 that are tent-only and each site includes a picnic table, grill and a fire ring. Roads through the campground are paved and the maximum vehicle length that can be accommodated is 45 feet, but there are no electrical or water hookups; potable water is available from a single hand pump, and vault toilets, trash dumpsters and firewood for sale are on site. Sites are limited to a maximum of eight people per site; for questions about fees, reservations or seasonal openings (high-elevation weather can affect access), call the facility at (801) 226-3564 for the most current information. The creek beside the campground is a productive trout stream where anglers commonly cast for rainbow, brown and native cutthroat, and several trailheads nearby open up options for hiking and biking. Sourdough and Buchanan Pass Trails are within easy reach, and mountain bikes are allowed on the first five miles of Buchanan Pass Trail; for motorized recreation, the Bunce School Roads see regular use by off-road enthusiasts. If you want services beyond what the forest offers, Estes Park the main gateway community to Rocky Mountain National Park is about 24 miles to the north and provides full services, while the surrounding Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests add opportunities for wildlife viewing, winter sports and extended backcountry outings.
