“Our group stayed in campsites 005 & 006. Campsite 006 is elevated and a really nice spot. Campsite 005 is next to the pit toilets, and it smells bad. I would not recommend campsite 005. The campground is a short walk to the lake and is overall a nice place to camp.”
“We stayed at spot #2. It’s on a small slope but seen that an area has been flattened for a tent. A plus is that it’s close to two water spickets and the restroom. My fiancee and I lived the site, the lake is a 5 min walk away. Definitely will be returning. ”
“Great campground, quiet, clean, conveniently close to the lake. ”

Lake Campground sits along the shore of Jackson Lake at about 6,100 feet, offering a noticeably cooler alpine feel than the lowland canyons below: summer days often reach the low 80s, evenings cool off considerably, and campsites are shaded by a scatter of oak and Jeffrey pines. The site is small and quiet total campsites: 8 and all eight sites are set up to accommodate both RVs and tents; each site can hold up to eight campers and two vehicles. Practical amenities are straightforward and focused on self-sufficient camping: you'll find food-storage lockers (important with local wildlife), grills, picnic tables, vault toilets and drinking water on site, and firewood may be purchased nearby at Mountain Oak Campground. Motorized boats are not allowed on Jackson Lake, so canoeing, swimming and shoreline fishing (the lake is stocked with trout and bluegill) are the primary water activities and keep the lake experience peaceful. Recreation extends beyond the shoreline into the broader Angeles National Forest, which spans much of the San Gabriel Mountains and supports a mix of chaparral, oak and higher-elevation pine forests. From this base you can drive a short distance along the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway for dramatic transitions from oak thickets to high desert and pine, or step onto nearby trails such as sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Blue Ridge Trail for day hikes. Wildlife viewing is a draw here bobcats, bears, Nelson bighorn sheep and mountain lions are reported in the area, and the forest as a whole is habitat for birds and species of conservation interest including the California condor and Southwestern willow flycatcher so keep a respectful distance and use lockers for food. Wrightwood's services and a small ski-resort atmosphere are close by for supplies and eating out, and because the campground only has eight sites, plan ahead: check current fees, seasonal availability and reservation rules with the Forest Service or Recreation.gov before you go.
