“This is a great campground! My favorite in the area! ”
“ Very nice and quiet! Will go there again. Sites are nice and big and close to MTB trails.”
“The campground was clean, beautiful, and well-maintained; however, it is far too noisy due to highway traffic, making it difficult to relax or sleep well. ”

Goose Meadows sits on the banks of the Truckee River right beside Highway 89, about five miles south of Truckee and roughly midway between Truckee and Tahoe City. The campground is shaded by a mix of lodgepole pine and fir, and its 23 single-family campsites are small and straightforward: 19 sites accept both RVs and tents while four are tent-only. Each site includes a picnic table and a metal campfire ring with an attached grill; vault toilets and a drinking-water spigot are available in the loop. Because the facility is operated by Tahoe National Forest, management, seasonal openings, fees and reservation details are set by the Forest Service check their current information before you go. Recreation centers on the river: fly-fishing for rainbow trout is common, and people bring tubes or swim in quieter stretches of the Truckee when flows permit. Hikers and mountain bikers can access long-distance routes nearby, including the Western States Trail, Five Lakes Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail, and the campground is a practical base for exploring reservoirs to the north (Prosser, Boca and Stampede) or Lake Tahoe and Olympic Valley to the south. In the wider Tahoe National Forest you'll also find opportunities for auto touring, boating, horseback riding and OHV use, as well as picnicking and wildlife viewing; for specifics on trailheads, watercraft launches and any access requirements, consult the Tahoe National Forest visitor information before planning your trip.
