Paradise Campground sits at roughly 1,000 feet in the Santa Ynez Mountains of Los Padres National Forest, shaded by an oak woodland that keeps most campsites cool and lined by a level grassy field ideal for games or stretching out a pack. Total campsites: 14 all 14 are both RV and tent sites with paved parking spurs that can accommodate most RVs. Each campsite comes with a picnic table, a campfire ring with grill and a separate pedestal grill; the campground provides accessible flush toilets and drinking water but no utility hookups, so RVs should arrive self-sufficient. Firewood is sold by the campground host, and the nearest fee dump station is about 11 miles away at Cachuma Lake County Park off State Route 154. For planning, single campsite reservations cover up to 6 people and 1 vehicle (maximum 8 people and up to 2 vehicles; additional people or the second vehicle incur a $10 per-person or per-vehicle nightly charge). Double-site reservations are good for 12 people and 2 vehicles (maximum 16 people and up to 4 vehicles; the same $10 per-person or per-vehicle nightly fee applies beyond those limits); extra person and vehicle fees are collected at the facility. The campground is a practical base for water and trail recreation without being crowded: the Santa Ynez River is accessible through a tunnel beneath Paradise Road and the White Rock Day-Use Area is less than half a mile away for river access and water play. About 10 miles northwest, Cachuma Lake Recreation Area (described as a no-body-contact reservoir) provides boating, fishing and kayaking opportunities and is regularly stocked with trout alongside carp and bass. Hikers, bikers and riders can pick up the 2.5-mile Aliso National Recreation Trail loop near the campground or connect to the longer 18-mile Santa Cruz Trail; riders and drivers have OHV opportunities too, with the Camuesa OHV Route and connecting trails within roughly 10 miles. Los Padres National Forest in this area supports a broad range of activities auto touring, biking, camping, climbing, hiking, off-highway vehicle use, picnicking, swimming, water sports and a visitor center and the city and coastline of Santa Barbara lie about 18 miles to the south for day trips. From Santa Barbara, reach the area by following Highway 154 inland for about 9 miles and turning onto Paradise Road to the campground; check current conditions and any seasonal notices with the forest service before you go.
