“Generally a nice campsite. Very isolated. Unfortunately, the app didn't tell us when booking that the restrooms were out of service, but it was fine for one night. We were traveling with a 21-foot RV.”

Trimmer Campground sits right on the shore of Pine Flat Lake in the rugged Kings River Canyon, about 26 miles east of Fresno off Highway 180/Kings Canyon Highway a drive of under an hour in normal conditions. The site is small and single-looped, with a total of 10 campsites: five sites are configured for both RVs and tents, and five are tent-only. Each site includes a picnic table, campfire ring and grill; the campground provides a well-lit, accessible restroom with flush toilets and free hot showers. A boat ramp and a courtesy dock are immediately adjacent to the loop, and a full-service marina is a short distance away, so launching and fueling boats for water skiing, jet skiing, or a day of spinning for bass is straightforward from the campground. The lake itself stretches about 20 miles with roughly 67 miles of shoreline and offers a wide variety of water-based recreation boating, water sports, swimming and good fishing for both wild and planted trout, plus largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill and crappie. From the campground you can also access trails and hunting opportunities in the surrounding oak-and-pine foothills at the western edge of the Sierra Nevada; wildlife sightings commonly include red-tailed hawks and the occasional bobcat. Because Trimmer is a compact facility with limited sites and direct lake access, confirm current fees, reservation rules and seasonal openings with the managing agency before you go, and plan your trip accordingly if you need a site with RV access or want to time a fishing or rafting run on the Kings River upstream in spring and early summer.
