Prairie Creek Campground sits along the broad shoreline of Beaver Lake in the Ozark Mountains, a landscape of towering limestone bluffs, natural caves and mixed hardwoods and flowering shrubs. The campground contains 114 total campsites 107 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 7 tent-only sites and the campsites are generally large, sunny and shaded in spots with room for chairs and outdoor games; several sites are literally steps from the lake shore. Practical amenities include fire rings and picnic tables at individual sites, drinking water and flush toilets, plus a playground and a sand volleyball court for families. Vehicle access is straightforward from Rogers: head east on Highway 12/Prairie Creek Drive for a few miles and follow the park access roads toward the lake. Two loops are identified by function and size: a small Day Use loop with 6 sites and a larger PEAK loop with 23 sites, and a five-lane boat ramp on site makes launching pontoons and fishing boats easy. For fees, current reservation procedures and any seasonal notices, check the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Lake page before you go nearby marinas operate year-round and can supply groceries, fuel, boat rentals and guides. The water and woods around Prairie Creek drive the recreational options: Beaver Lake's roughly 28,000 surface acres and 449 miles of shoreline support boating, water skiing, scuba diving, swimming and other water sports, while shoreline anglers and boat anglers chase largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Just below Beaver Dam, the colder upper White River holds rainbow and large German brown trout for fly and bank fishermen. On land, a network of Ozark trails offers hiking, biking and wildlife viewing, and the broader northwest Arkansas area provides upland hunting opportunities where allowed. The campground also benefits from nearby commercial concessions marinas and services for repairs, supplies and guided trips so it's a good base both for a family weekend with playground time and volleyball and for more gear-intensive outings centered on boating or fishing.
