Aux Arc Campground sits along Ozark Lake in the Arkansas River Valley where the shoreline alternates between steep bluffs, tree-lined banks and stretches of open farmland and level fields. The campground's 88 sites are mostly multi-use 84 are equipped to accommodate both RVs and tents while there is one RV-only site and three tent-only sites. Sites are described as spacious and shady and many offer electric and water hookups; the park supports RV needs further with a dump station. Facilities at Aux Arc include two playgrounds, hot showers, a boat ramp for lake access, and three electric picnic shelters that can be reserved. The campsite layout spreads across several loops (for example, Loop B has 27 sites, Loop E has 8, and Loop F has 15), so check the park map for exact site locations and distances to restrooms and the ramp. Recreation at Aux Arc takes full advantage of the lake and surrounding public lands: boating and other water sports launch from the onsite ramp, anglers enjoy both bank and boat fishing for catfish, bream, crappie and bass, and hiking and picnicking follow the water's edge or into nearby fields and woods. Wildlife viewing is a strong draw year-round, and during hunting season the public lands around Ozark Lake support deer, quail, squirrels, rabbits, dove, wild turkey, ducks and geese. If you want to plan beyond the campground, the Altus area home to two of the state's larger wineries and broad vineyard views is an easy side trip.
