“This place is as beautiful as any mountain top ever. The plus is the hot and all her goodies and hospitality at the general store. Worth the long drive up the mountain. ”
“Gorgeous views, a nice hiking trail, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. My wife and I camp there often. it is kept pretty quiet so you can experience nature.”

Perched near the top of White Rock Mountain at about 2,309 feet, the recreation area is best known for its 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps stone lodge and three stone cabins, all painstakingly restored to their original character by volunteers and Forest Service staff. The lodge and cabins are rented separately from campsites and offer modern conveniences you won't find at a primitive site: electricity, running water, full kitchens stocked with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, crock pot, dishes and cookware, private bathrooms, and large patios with charcoal grills and fire pits. There is no air conditioning the thick stone walls generally stay cool in summer and heat comes from wood-burning stoves in winter (firewood is provided for building heat and additional wood is available for purchase). Linens, towels and bedding are not supplied, so plan to bring pillows, blankets or sleeping bags along with food and other personal supplies. The site is staffed; for questions or to speak with local staff call (479) 369-4128. Reservation rules follow the Recreation.gov standards (individual bookings generally open six months in advance, groups up to 12 months) and changes or cancellations typically incur a $10 service fee with additional penalties for late cancellations check your confirmation or the Recreation.gov listing for the exact terms and any applicable fees. The campground side of White Rock Mountain includes a total of 13 campsites: five that accommodate both RVs and tents, four glamping units, one RV-only site, and three tent-only sites. Sites are primitive (no electric or water hookups) but are easy to use: tent pads, picnic tables, grills, fire rings and lantern poles, with drinking water and accessible vault toilets nearby. A gravel parking area, eight family picnic units, four CCC-crafted viewpoint shelters along the rim trail, and on-site overnight parking for Ozark Highlands Trail access make the area a convenient base for exploring the Ozarks. White Rock sits at the hub of multiple trail systems the short 2-mile rim loop, the 17-mile Shores Lake/White Rock loop, and access to the long Ozark Highlands Trail while Shores Lake (non-motorized boating, swimming, fishing), the National Scenic Mulberry River, Mill Creek ATV areas, nearby waterfalls and scenic drives broaden activity options to include hiking, fishing, mountain biking, ATV riding, hunting and wildlife viewing. A small general store on site sells snacks, pizza, maps, souvenirs and firewood. To reach the area, head north from Mulberry on Arkansas 215 and follow the Forest Service roads up onto the mountain (enter "White Rock Mountain Recreation Area" into GPS or call the office for assistance).
