Pendleton Bend Campground and Day Use Park sits on the bank of the Arkansas River in the low, alluvial bottomland of Desha County, about 11 miles north of Dumas via US-165 and State Route 212. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 31 all 31 sites accommodate both RVs and tents and include electric and water hookups, and 25 of those sites may be reserved in advance. The park's comfort station offers hot showers and flush toilets, a two-lane boat ramp provides easy river access for trailers and small launches, and a group picnic shelter holds up to 75 people. Families will find a playground and multiple picnic sites within easy walking distance of the campsites, so day-use visitors and overnight guests share a compact, serviceable footprint along the river. This stretch of Pool 2 is known for strong fishing bass and crappie are abundant in the pool while the tailwaters by Wilbur D. Mills Dam and nearby Joe Hardin Dam are good for catfish and the two-lane ramp and sheltered coves make boating and water sports straightforward. The campground is also on a major migratory bird route and borders wetlands and Trusten Holder Wildlife Management Area, so wildlife viewing and birding are reliable draws, and waterfowl hunting is common in season. Cultural and regional attractions are close by: the Arkansas Post National Memorial recounts the area's early European settlement and territorial-era history, and the Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge offers extensive hunting, fishing, and wildlife-viewing opportunities. Fees, seasonal availability, and reservation policies can change, so confirm current rates and opening dates with the managing office or the Corps of Engineers website before you travel.
