“Beautiful remote camp sites with incredible beach and lake access. Tons of tree coverage so sites stay shady and cooler. Wonderful camping! ”

Horseshoe Cove sits along the western shore of Baker Lake in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, where campsites alternate between close-to-the-water spots and shaded pitches under mature firs. The campground offers 40 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, and the layout gives visitors the choice of pitching a tent within steps of the lake or setting up beneath the canopy. Onsite amenities that shape day-to-day camping include a boat ramp for lake access, a large sandy swim beach, a short lakeside trail, and firewood for sale. You'll see Mt. Baker and nearby Mt. Shuksan from the water on a clear day; Mt. Baker rises to 10,781 feet and its glaciers loom above the forested shoreline, giving the area a high-mountain character even though the campground itself sits at lake level. For planning and questions about specific facilities or seasonal conditions call the Mt. Baker district at (360) 386-8214. The campground is a convenient base for a wide range of outdoor activities: boating, fishing, swimming and picnicking are immediate options from Horseshoe Cove, while hikers and backpackers have direct access to longer routes in the Mt. Baker National Recreation Area. The Baker Lake Trail begins at the south end of the lake and follows roughly 13 miles along the eastern shore, with Anderson Point about 2.5 miles from its trailhead being a popular turnout for a lunch stop or overnight boat-in camp. At the north end, the Baker River Trail runs about 2.25 miles upstream through large old-growth forest toward North Cascades National Park. The broader Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest also supports biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, winter sports and interpretive programs; check current fees, seasonal openings and reservation rules on Recreation.gov before you go, and note that once a reservation start date has begun the Recreation.gov contact center and the campground manager cannot modify your reservation.
