“Beautiful campground! Very refreshing, clean and the host was very friendly and accommodating.i only stayed one night but will be back soon. I absolutely loved Moss creek campground ”
“It was a lovely campsite, easy to navigate and you could get to the creek which was lovely. We were at campsite 4 which was a little noisy due to being right next to the road and the toilets (with a door that slammed after each guest), but it was still worth visiting!”
“Beautiful as always. The kids had a blast in the river. Camp host was a really nice guy. Can’t wait to come back!”

Moss Creek Campground sits along the Little White Salmon River at about 1,400 feet in the southeast corner of Gifford Pinchot National Forest, a short drive up from Highway 14 near Cook and into the Mount Adams Ranger District. A heavy canopy of hemlock, cedar, fir and maple keeps the sites cool in summer and shades the creekside spots where people like to tromp into the water for a few minutes of relief. The campground is small 17 sites in all with sixteen sites set up to accommodate both tents and smaller RVs or trailers and one site reserved for tents only. Basic amenities are in place: drinking water, vault toilets, picnic tables and metal fire rings at each site, and firewood available for purchase on-site. There is an $8 extra-vehicle fee, staffing at the location is limited, and the Forest Service asks campers to call (509) 538-2060 for general information before heading in. The Little White Salmon is the immediate draw here for anglers and waders; the river holds rainbow and brook trout and is shallow enough in many places for easy wading and cooling off. Beyond the creek, Moss Creek makes a practical base for exploring the eastern reaches of Gifford Pinchot and the nearby Columbia River Gorge Mount Adams country with its mix of old- and second-growth forest, meadows and lakes is within reach for day hikes, wildlife viewing and other forest activities. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov and come with specific cancellation rules: canceling up to two days before arrival incurs a $10 fee, same-day or day-before cancellations cost a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations forfeit the full amount), and no-shows are assessed a $20 service fee plus the first-night charge. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after the reservation ends; refunds go back to the original card or, for cash/check payments, by Treasury check. In the case of an emergency closure, fees will be refunded in full.
