“I was not a fan of this campground for the amount of money paid. The neighboring campgrounds did not follow the quiet hours rule. The smell from the bathroom lingered to the tent area. The garbage cans were full when we arrived. Overall disappointed with my stay.”
“We had planned to use this as a river takeout. Nothing indicates that isn’t possible. The river is 1/4 mile from the camp and the takeout was closed. Luckily, we took out in Moab, but we didn’t use our rather expensive camp. I do NOT recommend this camp!”

Gold Bar Group Sites sit on the banks of the Colorado River inside the Moab Field Office's canyon country, where red-rock mesas and river-cut cliffs form the immediate backdrop. The area is popular with large groups school trips, family reunions and outfitters and the campground provides four group sites in total, each designed to accommodate both tents and RVs (though trailer and RV parking is limited and Site D is the most suitable if you plan to bring a motorhome). Site capacities and fees are: A (max 30) $150, B (max 30) $150, C (max 90) $250, and D (max 30) $130. Basic on-site amenities are practical and straightforward: picnic tables, fire grates and vault toilets; Sites A, B and C include shade shelters and Site B has a built hammock structure for multiple hammocks. There is no potable water, no dump station and no electrical hookups, so plan to arrive self-sufficient with your own water and sanitation arrangements. A boat ramp at Gold Bar puts the Colorado River within easy reach for boating, rafting and fishing, and the campground is close to the Corona Arch trailhead, numerous four-wheel-drive roads and mountain-bike runs; Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Dead Horse Point State Park and the La Sal Mountains are all within easy day-trip distance from Moab (roughly a 15-minute drive to town for supplies, rentals and services). Because this stretch of the Colorado Plateau is heavily visited in spring and fall, reservations and policies are important to read before you go. All group sites are reservable; changes and cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov or by calling the BLM Moab Field Office at 435-259-2100 for assistance. Basic policy highlights: you may change dates without a fee if the revised dates include any of the original reservation dates or move to another same-priced Gold Bar site for the same dates, but changing to dates entirely outside your original booking carries a $10 change fee. Cancellations refunded through Recreation.gov incur a $10 service fee; late cancellations (less than 14 days before arrival) also forfeit the first night's fee and no-shows are charged a $20 service fee plus the first night's fee. If you depart early, contact the BLM to open unused nights for others and to request a partial refund; refund requests must be submitted through Recreation.gov within seven days of checkout. Interagency pass discounts do not apply to group reservations. For up-to-the-minute area information, daily camping maps and guidance on recreating responsibly (Tread Lightly/Leave No Trace), consult the Moab Camping Guide, the Colorado River Moab Daily Camping Map and the BLM Moab and Canyon Country Facebook updates.
