Speegleville Park sits on the south end of a broad cove on Waco Lake, the largest lake in the United States located entirely within a single city's municipal boundaries. The lake holds about 79,000 acre-feet of water and is primarily fed by the Bosque River, and the park's shoreline is characterized by extensive submerged timber that concentrates fish year-round. Anglers can expect catfish, crappie, largemouth and smallmouth bass and sunfish the lake even produced a record flathead catfish of 59.5 pounds while boaters and water-sports users will appreciate a four-lane ramp that eases launching for powerboats and jet skis. Bird watchers and swimmers will find spots along the cove to spread out, and the Lacy Point Hiking and Biking Trail (about 20 miles total) is a short drive around the cove for those looking to hike, bike or ride horses beyond the immediate park shoreline. The campground at Speegleville Park provides 32 total sites: 30 developed RV sites and 2 tent sites, with the 30 developed sites offering water and electric hookups.
