Midway Park sits on the southeast shore of Waco Lake, the largest lake in the United States located entirely within a single city's municipal boundaries, and offers a straightforward, family-friendly base for water-centered days and easy city access. The campground totals 37 campsites 32 RV sites and 5 tent sites with 32 sites providing water and electric hookups and 11 of those sites also offering sewer hookups. Practical amenities include hot showers, an accessible playground for children, and a boat ramp with a dock that puts you on the lake quickly; anglers will find the main shoreline's submerged timber holds fish year-round, including catfish, crappie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and sunfish. Reservations are handled through the NRRS system; changing or cancelling a reservation incurs a $10.00 service fee and late cancellations may carry additional charges, so plan accordingly. Although Midway Park is comfortable for short stays and day use, it is also well-placed for exploring Waco's attractions. The park sits inside the city limits and is roughly 10 miles from Magnolia Market; about a 15-minute drive away, Waco Lake Wetlands runs educational tours through a six-acre nursery of aquatic plants and habitat that attracts more than 130 bird species, a good option for environmental education and wildlife viewing. Cameron Park Zoo and urban hiking and picnicking opportunities are nearby, and the broader Waco Lake recreation area supports boating, water sports, camping, fishing, hiking and other concession-based recreation. The park is accessed from Highway 6 just before the lake crossing off I-35, making it a convenient stop if you're passing through or looking to pair city sights with lakeside recreation.
