“The camp host was very nice and helpful. You would be hard pressed to get a site without a lake view. The bathrooms were clean and the showers hot.”
“Electrical boxes need servicing. They’re in need of serious repairs. Other than that we had an enjoyable relaxing weekend”
“We were in sites 12 and 13. Great view of the lake, close to the swim area, pretty good shade in both. Its unfortunate that they close this side of the park at Oct 1 - April 1.”

Copperas Creek sits on the southwestern side of Proctor Lake in the Cross Timbers region, where wide grassy areas alternate with stands of cottonwood, black willow and cypress. The campground offers 69 total campsites, all configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, distributed across eight loops: East (1), L#1 (16), L#2 (14), L#3 (7), L#4 (6), L#5 (14), L#6 (10), and West (1). Site availability shifts with the seasons: during the busier April September window the park opens 67 campsites and two group shelters, while October March the campground reduces to 30 campsites and one group shelter. Most sites include electric hookups (50-, 30- and 20-amp), water and sewer connections plus a covered picnic table; the park also provides flush and pit toilets, coin or free showers, drinking water and a dump station to support longer stays. The park's setting makes it a strong choice for anglers and water users: Proctor Lake is known for healthy populations of bass, crappie, catfish and some of the state's best hybrid striped bass fishing, and Copperas Creek contains three boat ramps, two fishing docks and a deep-water fishing platform just in front of the dam. Families find a mix of day-use picnic areas, several swim beaches, a playground and a specialized sport site for active afternoons, while birdwatchers and naturalists will appreciate shoreline wildlife viewing. For longer hikes or horseback rides, High Point Park (adjacent to Sowell Creek Park on FM 1496) offers more than 10 miles of trails. The nearby towns of Comanche, De Leon and Dublin add historical sites, antique shops and local events if you want a break from the lake; for current fees, reservation rules and any access requirements, check the park's managing agency or official website before you go.
