About

Bandy Creek sits inside the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area on the Cumberland Plateau in north-central Tennessee, offering a roomy, modern campground that blends forested campsites with creature comforts. The looped layout contains 144 total campsites 47 in Loop A, 14 in Loop B, 30 in Loop C and 51 in Loop D plus 2 group sites for larger gatherings. Of those sites, 107 are set up to serve both RVs and tents and 37 are tent-only; many sites are shaded and include picnic areas, while the campground provides flush toilets, hot showers and electrical hookups for RVs. On-site family amenities include a swimming pool, a volleyball court, playgrounds and ball fields, making Bandy Creek a practical choice for mixed groups of campers, and the main Big South Fork river is only a short drive away for fishing and paddling. Bandy Creek is also a convenient base for exploring the wider recreation area's sandstone gorges, bluffs and historic places: miles of trails in Big South Fork support hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, and the park as a whole offers climbing, boating, hunting, wildlife viewing and cultural sites such as the reconstructed Blue Heron Mine about 20 miles from the campground. Practical details such as campsite fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability change, so plan to check the park's directions and reservation information (see the NPS page for Big South Fork at http://www.nps.gov/biso/planyourvisit/directions.htm) or Recreation.gov before you go; note that site types and hookups mean Bandy Creek accommodates everything from tent campers seeking shaded sites to RVs needing electrical service.
