“Great place to camp at. Huge lake if you like to fish. We were only passing thru on our way to Kentucky but stayed an extra day just to enjoy the view. ”

Seven Points Campground sits on the shores of J. Percy Priest Lake amid rolling woodlands and grasslands managed by the Nashville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The site offers 60 campsites in all 58 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 that are tent-only spread among shady, roomy pulls close to the water. Basic comforts are provided on-site: potable drinking water, a dump station, flush toilets and hot showers, plus a boat ramp and a sandy swimming beach for quick access to the lake. If you're planning a larger gathering, two group picnic shelters in the Day Use Area each hold more than 100 people, making this a practical spot for family reunions or club outings. The Corps completed J. Percy Priest Dam in 1968; the impoundment creates 14,200 surface acres of water and roughly 42 miles of impounded reach, set against about 19,087 acres of surrounding grassland and woodland. Recreation at Seven Points takes full advantage of the lake and the nearby natural areas: anglers can pursue largemouth and smallmouth bass, striped and white bass, Cherokee bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, bream and trout, and the marina-friendly shoreline supports boating, canoeing and a wide range of water sports. On land there are opportunities for hiking and horseback riding Three Hickories Nature Trail in the nearby Cook Recreation Area is a 1.6-mile loop through wooded terrain and the broader project area includes a visitor center, playground and concession-operated recreation sites for dropped-in activities. Couchville Cedar Glade Natural Area, with its unusual plant communities and the Tennessee coneflower, offers additional options for wildlife viewing and environmental study. Seven Points is roughly 10 15 minutes east of downtown Nashville (accessible via I-40 and the Old Hickory/Stewarts Ferry corridor), so city amenities are close at hand; for current fees, reservations and seasonal details check the Corps of Engineers/Nashville District recreation website or contact the park office before you go.
