Willow Grove Campground sits on an elevated plateau above Dale Hollow Lake, opening out to long views across the clear blue water and the thickly forested hills that define this Tennessee-Kentucky border reservoir. The lake itself offers 27,700 surface acres and roughly 620 miles of shoreline, so fishing, boating and water sports are the daily draw here Dale Hollow is famous for trophy smallmouth bass and the Obey River below the dam holds excellent rainbow and brown trout. From the campground you can launch into wide coves and find secluded tie-ups along shorelines, swim at the campground beach, or snorkel/scuba to explore the sunken foundation of the historic Willow Grove School House. On land, several trails wind through the canopy; the Accordian Bluff Hiking Trail begins at Willow Grove, runs 7.5 miles one-way up to a ridgetop and back down to the lake, and links this campground with Lillydale a good route for birders and wildflower observers. In the late fall through early spring, bald eagles are commonly seen in the area, and the Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery (about a half-hour drive) is open daily and produces trout used throughout the region. The campground's layout and amenities are designed for comfortable stays: there are 82 total campsites 59 that will accommodate both RVs and tents, one site designated for RVs only, and 22 tent-only sites plus a double-party group camping area and a large group picnic shelter. Most sites offer 50-amp electrical service and water hookups (tent-only sites are the exception), and you'll find drinking water, flush toilets and a dump station on site; a paved, accessible site and a Wi-Fi hub near the registration center make it easier to handle logistics. Willow Grove is adjacent to Willow Grove Marina (operated by a private concessionaire), so boaters should expect marina rules and possible launch or parking fees. Reservations are handled online or by credit card only; there is no fee to make a reservation but a $10 service fee applies to most refunds or changes, day-before or day-of cancellations forfeit the first night's fee plus the service charge, and no-shows incur a $20 fee plus forfeiture of the first night. Camping is limited to 14 days within any 30-consecutive-day period, visitors to campers are charged $3 per vehicle per day, and all camping equipment and vehicles must be kept on designated pads or parking areas.
