“Nice quiet campground. Our site had plenty of space between it and our neighbors. A little more stripped down than some campgrounds but it’s a great base for exploring the Palmetto Trail”
“Very nice, well maintained, clean campground. Unfortunately at around 430 AM some of the locals shot 2 deer in the campground from the back of a pickup. Being woke by gunfire spoils the experience! ”

US Forest Service, Enoree Ranger District
Open in Google Maps ↗
Sedalia Campground sits in the Enoree Ranger District of Sumter National Forest in Union County at about 570 feet above sea level, surrounded by mixed pine hardwood forest and gently rolling terrain. The site count is small and simple: TOTAL CAMPSITES: 12, and SITE TYPE BREAKDOWN: 12 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites five of those sites are available year-round and seven more open seasonally. Expect long, humid summers (daytime highs often in the upper 80s to high 90s) and mild winters (lows in the low 40s to highs in the upper 60s). Facilities are primitive: one vault toilet, a single water spigot by the campground entrance, rock fire rings at each site, and a trash receptacle; there are no picnic tables, hookups, electricity, or Wi-Fi, and cell service can be sporadic. Campsites vary in size and many will fit large RVs, trailers, or tents, but several sites only accommodate a single vehicle and camper the basic occupancy rules allow one to eight people per site and configurations up to two vehicles plus two campers or two tents where the site size permits. Golf carts are not allowed. Sedalia functions primarily as a rustic basecamp for outdoor pursuits across the Enoree district rather than a developed recreation area. It is a trailhead for the Enoree Passage of the Palmetto Trail, which offers easy-to-moderate hikes through the district, and the campground sits roughly between the Tyger River to the north and the Enoree River to the south; Johns Creek Lake complex of three small reservoirs lies just southwest and provides shore fishing and small-boat use (trolling motors only). The rivers provide boating and fishing opportunities but water levels and currents fluctuate with rainfall and can become impassable in late summer, so plan accordingly and bring your own gear the nearest Tyger River access is a few miles away at Minnow Bridge Road. Hunting is a major draw here, with abundant deer and turkey in the surrounding forest; several sites open seasonally for big game seasons (sites 6 12 are available in April and in September December), and all reservations are handled through Recreation.gov (site 1 and site 8 are group sites at $10/night; other sites are $5/night; 14-day stay limit in any 30-day period). Sedalia is close enough to Union County attractions such as the Union County Historical Museum and the Johns Creek lakes to combine simple, primitive camping with day trips for fishing, history, and local festivals.
