Jodie B ★ 5 · Oct 2025One of my most favorite places to ride
Shelley E ★ 5 · Sep 2025Great primitive camping. Sites are not on top of each other so you fee like you have some privacy. The vault toilets were clean. Had really nice pipe corrals to keep the horses in. The trails are beautiful and the picnic area is right along side a river under shady trees. Great place to bring your horse and ride 25 miles of trails.
Sandy B ★ 3 · Jul 2025Camps for horse riders should be separate from the hikers and hunters, as the horses and smells and noises are in close proximity to the other campers that don't ride horses. We had to leave our campsite to find quiet and get away from the smells that winds carried over from the horse stalls across from us. It was an overnight stay, but we left early.

USDA Forest Service- Enoree Ranger District

Woods Ferry Campground sits on the east bank of the Broad River in the Enoree Ranger District of the Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests, roughly 40 miles southwest of Rock Hill and 57 miles southeast of Spartanburg at an elevation near 350 feet. The site is set where a wooded floodplain meets upland pine and maturing hardwoods, so trails and campsites are shaded by dogwoods and hardwood canopies in summer and let winter sun through stands of pine. The campground gives direct access to the 26-mile Woods Ferry Horse Trail, which follows the Broad River and its hardwood drains and is open to horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bikers; anglers and paddlers also use the river with current access available about two miles downstream at Neal Shoals Dam. Birdwatchers and wildlife observers will find red-shouldered hawks, great blue herons, osprey, wood ducks, barred owls and the occasional bald eagle along the river corridor, and anglers should remember a valid South Carolina fishing license is required to fish on national forest lands. The day-use picnic area near the river has picnic tables and grills, two group picnic shelters, and three fishing platforms for riverside viewing. The campground offers 17 reservable sites in total: 4 sites configured for both RVs and tents and 13 designated equestrian sites, and it is open year-round. Ten equestrian campsites include corrals; other horse sites have space for highlining or portable corrals behind the campground's white-banded perimeter trees. Sites sit on a gravel road with gravel parking spurs that vary in size and grade not every site will accommodate large campers or RVs and each site includes a picnic table and a rock fire ring, with some sites featuring lantern posts. There are no electrical hookups and no potable water at sites, though centrally located water spigots and vault toilets are available; the campground office notes a two-tenths of a mile, easy walk from campsites to the picnic area and river. All campsites are reservation-only as of October 1, 2021, with a 14-day maximum stay; equestrian nonelectric rates start at $14 per night for the double equestrian site (site 7) and the group equestrian site (site 10). Nearby points of interest include the Leeds Shooting Range, the Olde English Tourism District, and Historic Brattonsville, and the broader forest supports a wide range of activities such as biking, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, off-highway vehicle use, and wildlife viewing.
