Dewdrop Campground sits on the hillside above the Kinzua Arm of the Allegheny Reservoir, its campsites stepping down a multi-level slope that gives many sites a partial view of the water through stands of black cherry and hardwoods. The campground contains 68 sites in all: 58 sites set up for both RVs and tents and 10 tent-only sites; each site comes with a picnic table, fire ring and a tent pad. Vaults here are replaced by flush toilets, drinking water is piped in, and there's a convenient dump station for RVs. On-site amenities include firewood and ice for sale, interpretive services in season, and 24-hour campground attendants; reservations and any changes or cancellations are handled through Recreation.gov, and you can call the campground for facility-specific questions at (814) 363-9090. What draws most people to Dewdrop is access to the reservoir: a campers-only boat launch puts you directly on the water for boating, water-skiing and lake fishing, and a 2.5-mile loop trail winds around the campground for short hikes or shoreline strolls. The site sits along the Longhouse Scenic Byway, an auto-tour loop around the Kinzua Arm, making it easy to combine a night under the trees with a drive to the Kinzua Dam or a stop at Kinzua Point Information Center. Mountain bikers will appreciate that the Jakes Rocks trail system connects to the campground hikers are welcome there too but should give the right-of-way to bikers while the wider Allegheny National Forest offers hunting, wildlife viewing, swimming spots and more.
