The Point Campground sits on the southwest corner of Lake of the Arbuckles, a lakeside loop of just 16 campsites that keeps the atmosphere calm and family-friendly. Of those sites, 12 accommodate both RVs and tents while 4 are tent-only, and several sites include electric and water hookups, making the loop suitable for RVs, trailers or traditional tent camping. The surrounding landscape reflects the park's transition zone between eastern deciduous forest and western prairie: low wooded ridges, open grasslands and the broad 2,350-acre expanse of Arbuckle Lake frame days of fishing and boating, and the campground's compact size and lakeside location put the water close at hand. The Point is an easy drive from town roughly 10 minutes from Sulphur and accessible from I-35 via Exit 55 through Davis and east on Highway 7 so it's simple to pick up supplies or rentals before you settle into camp. Recreation at The Point and the larger Chickasaw National Recreation Area centers on water and multi-use trails: swimmers, boaters and anglers use Lake of the Arbuckles, the Multi-Use Trail invites hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders, and smaller streams and spring-fed pools like Little Niagara are popular swim spots. Birdwatchers and wildflower enthusiasts will find diverse habitats to explore, and hunting is permitted in designated seasons elsewhere in the park. The Travertine Nature Center nearby offers interpretive displays and ranger programs if you want orientation or to see live animals up close. Practical notes: reservations and rules are handled through recreation.gov, and refunds will not be issued for inclement weather, so read the site's cancellation policy carefully; the park is not responsible for any cancellation fees charged by recreation.gov.
