Kyla K ★ 3 · Oct 2025This is definitely more of a tent camping location, but I did have a good experience with my RV in two different sites in the main campground. Would be good if they had more sites with covered areas, rather than just a handful. Also would've appreciated being able to add a little water to my RV tank, but that's not a huge deal, as I could get drinking water fills at the spigots. All in all, it's a nice little campground for having a place to stay near Red Rocks. If not visiting the park, I'd recommend other locations for camping as the cost is a little high with the reservation fee. PLEASE NOTE: The campground reservation CANNOT be used for park entry. Get an interagency pass, reserve your time slot for Red Rocks, and pay the $2 (everyone pays no matter what) to get in.
Dean H ★ 4 · Oct 2025Beautiful campground and surroundings
Claudio V ★ 4 · Oct 2025Really wide pitch area for the tent.

Red Rock Canyon Campground sits on the edge of the Mojave just west of the Las Vegas corridor, where cream- and red-striped sandstone rises above pockets of gray limestone and seasonal springs. The campground offers 80 sites in all: 28 sites designed for both RVs and tents, 6 RV-only sites, and 46 tent-only sites; three campsites are fully accessible, with concrete parking and paved paths to the restrooms. Most sites come with picnic tables and grills, and nearly all loops have centrally located vault toilets, trash cans, and drinking water; note that grills and campfire rings are available only when fire restrictions permit. There are 14 walk-to sites (each limited to one tent and one vehicle) and seven large group sites that can host up to 50 people and eight vehicles each, with a shaded picnic area and multiple small tent pads; parking is restricted to the space assigned to your campsite and there is no separate day-use parking inside the campground. If you're in an RV, be aware there are no hookups no electrical, no propane refills, no water tank filling and no grey/black water disposal on site so plan accordingly. The campground is about a 3-mile drive from the Red Rock Scenic Drive and Visitor Center and roughly 2 miles from the Red Spring/Calico Basin day-use area; the scenic drive is a separate experience and requires a timed-entry reservation for each day you plan to enter (required seasonally, October 1 May 31, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.). The recreation options are broad: hiking and multi-use trails, world-class climbing routes close by, road and mountain biking, auto touring, interpretive programs at the visitor center, wildlife viewing (including desert tortoise habitat), picnicking and exploring historic and cultural sites such as petroglyph areas at Willow Springs. Reservations and most permits (timed-entry tickets, late-exit backcountry passes, campsite reservations) are handled through recreation.gov; fees for camping are $33 per night for standard and RV sites on recreation.gov ($34 via call center), $20 for walk-to sites ($21 via call center), and $88 for group sites ($89 via call center). America the Beautiful Senior Lifetime and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on standard and RV site fees when the passholder is onsite. Pay attention to the cancellation policy: changes made earlier than the day before arrival incur a $10 fee; cancellations the day before or day of are charged $10 plus the first night (in some one-night cases only the first night is charged); no-shows forfeit the first night plus a $20 service fee. For directions, the campground is accessed from Moenkopi Road off Charleston Boulevard, about 17 20 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip (search "Red Rock Canyon Campground, Las Vegas, NV" in mapping apps).
