“Highly recommend this site. Site was easy to get to, clean, and fun for kids.”
“Awsome time with my family, we wanted to perfect blend between tent camping and glamping and this location was it! We had our own personal restrooms, parking lot, entrance, running water, electricity, and shelter! Loved it and so did my family. Definitely coming back!”

Cedar Creek (Sam Tobias) sits just west of Ruidoso along Cedar Creek Road, on the north side of the road at about 7,000 feet elevation. The site functions as a small group-oriented recreation area: there are four total campsites three that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site and several designated group areas sized for larger gatherings (individual group campgrounds are listed with capacities from about 60 to 100 people, and the covered group picnic shelter seats up to 40). Each campsite and group area includes an accessible picnic shelter, a campfire ring, grills, drinking water, and accessible vault toilets; non-sheltered picnic tables are open to the public. The picnic pavilion is for day use only, and overnight stays require booking one of the group campgrounds, so check the Lincoln National Forest reservation system before you go for current availability and fee information. The recreation focus here is on trails and group outdoor time. A network of multi-use trails runs adjacent to the Sam Tobias Memorial Group Campground: the 1.3-mile T90 Fitness Trail with exercise stations, the T120 A D and T121 A & B biking routes, and an expert-only downhill mountain bike trail near the water tower to the east that finishes at the picnic area. Hikers and mountain bikers will also find opportunities to see mule deer and elk in the area; dogs must be kept on leash while hiking and are not permitted on the Fitness Trail. Beyond Cedar Creek, Lincoln National Forest offers a wide range of activities biking, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, OHV use, picnicking, RV recreation and winter sports and the town of Ruidoso is a short drive away for supplies, restaurants and galleries. For up-to-date rules, seasonal closures and fee schedules, consult the Lincoln National Forest office or the official reservation site before planning your trip.
