“We come here often and just love it so much! It’s quiet, woodsy, and an all around great place to camp! We will be back soon! ”
“Two of our days were swarmed with ladybugs. Just that time of year. Will try to plan a better time for next year. Overall the campgrounds were great. The new bathrooms are much appreciated. They were kept very clean. ”

Ray Behrens sits on the southeastern shore of Mark Twain Lake and feels like a working lakeside community as much as a campground. The site can handle groups of different kinds: there are 166 campsites in all, with 165 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and a single tent-only site. Sites are organized into three loops Deer Run, Little Bluestem and Cedar Ridge and every campsite includes electric hookups; showers and accessible flush toilets are located close to every loop. On the water side the campground offers a marina for boat access and several playgrounds for families, and the lake itself (about 18,600 acres at full pool) is well known among anglers for crappie and bass fishing. Recreation at Ray Behrens is a mix of lake-focused activity and regional attractions. At the campground and around Mark Twain Lake you can boat, swim, fish, picnic, hike and hunt; the wider area also supports horseback riding, environmental education, water sports and a visitor center, plus privately run lodging and other concession services. Nearby points of interest include the Clarence Cannon Dam and its power-plant display, and the David C. Berti Shooting Range below the dam at the Warren G. See South Spillway; the village of Florida (Mark Twain's birthplace) and the historic town of Hannibal are roughly 25 30 miles away. The campground is reached from the Hannibal area by following Highway 36 west and then Route J south toward the lake; for current fees, reservation rules and seasonal availability, check the park's official information before you go.
