“Love the spot i chose as it seemed yo have a bit more privacy than other spots. The only drawback of the grounds is hearing street traffic and seemingly neighborhood dogs barking.”
“Clean bathrooms with tp. Beautiful park, Loop D is somewhat close to the highway so you can hear cars driving. We found ticks on us so make sure you check before you leave. Bbq pit is convenient. ”

Greenbelt Campground is a compact, well-treed park in suburban Greenbelt, Maryland, about 10 miles from the Washington Monument and easily reached from the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495) near Greenbelt Road. The campground contains 157 sites in four distinct loops: Loop B (46 sites), Loop C (24 sites), Loop D (54 sites) and a 33-site Scout/Youth/Organized Group loop that is available year-round by reservation for groups. Most sites 96 in total are configured for both RVs and tents, while 4 are RV-only and 57 are tent-only. Sites do not have electrical or water hookups (this is a primitive campground), but the park has paved roads and parking spurs for easy access, flush toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station. Each campsite comes with a picnic table and a combination grill/campfire ring; the park has updated picnic tables and grills and installed new fire rings using campground fees. Note vehicle-length limits: Loop B restricts RVs (including tow vehicle) to 30 feet, and Loop D has limited availability for larger vehicles up to 35 feet. The location is staffed call local staff at (771) 208-1588 and the park address is 6565 Greenbelt Road. The setting is an urban forest of pine, oak and maple with a low, rolling landscape and Still Creek running through parts of the park; spring brings mountain laurel blooms and autumn offers colorful foliage. About ten miles of marked trails weave through the property Perimeter, Azalea, Dogwood and Blueberry Trails among them so hiking is a primary draw; Sweetgum Picnic Area, 1.5 miles from the campground, provides playground equipment and public picnic tables for day visitors. Wildlife viewing is common here deer and chipmunks are often seen from campsites and trails and the park's proximity to city attractions makes it useful for mixed itineraries: the Goddard Space Flight Center is about 3 miles away, the City of Greenbelt about 1 mile, and Washington, D.C. is roughly 10 miles; the Metro is reachable about 1.5 miles from the park and shopping centers sit within a half-mile of the entrance. Activities listed for the park are camping, hiking and wildlife viewing, and scout/youth groups should plan ahead to reserve the dedicated group loop.
