“We went for the last weekend of October the kids got to do the trick or treating which they enjoyed. The haunted trail was short but the kids enjoyed it.”

Twin Knobs Campground sits on the shore of Cave Run Lake within the Daniel Boone National Forest, offering a mix of wooded relief and open water access across 201 campsites. The loops are well organized Loop A has 38 sites, B 18, C 10, D 20, E 15, F 28, G 13, GU 2, H 19, I 16 and J 22 and most sites (199) are configured to serve both RVs and tents, while two are tent-only. Many sites feature paved spurs large enough for any size RV, plus a picnic table, fire ring and grill; a portion of the sites include electrical hookups. Campground facilities include bathhouses with showers, flush toilets and drinking water, and the bathhouses and some picnic areas are accessible. For groups there are two reservable picnic areas and group camping options, and the site accepts interagency passes including Golden Age and Golden Access Passports (note: discounts do not apply to double sites, group sites or additional electricity fees). Recreation at Twin Knobs leans heavily on the lake: a boat ramp and a sandy beach support fishing, swimming, motor boating, windsurfing, sailing and water skiing, while the Twin Knobs Shoreline Trail (2.5 miles) and the Knob Overlook Trail (1.5 miles) offer short, scenic hikes through the Cumberland Plateau's steep forested slopes and sandstone outcrops. The campground itself schedules summer amphitheater programs and other family activities, and has on-site courts and pits for volleyball, basketball and horseshoes. The Morehead Office Visitor Center is nearby for maps and interpretive exhibits, and the wider Daniel Boone National Forest including the Red River Gorge geological area with its sandstone arches offers longer hiking, biking, horseback riding, auto touring and wildlife viewing opportunities. The campground is reached from I-64 (exit 133 south toward Cave Run Lake), making it a convenient lakeside base for exploring northeastern Kentucky.
