Pikes Ridge Campground sits on the Highland Rim above Green River Lake, where forested ridges give way to rolling meadows and a shoreline that makes boat access easy. The campground contains 55 sites arranged in three loops (Loop A with 19 sites, Loop B with 8, Loop C with 28) and every site is configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, making it a flexible option for mixed groups. Several waterfront sites put the lake within a few steps of your campfire, and within the campground you'll find a small beach for swimming, a playground, a hiking trail that starts from the loop roads, a fishing pier, courtesy dock and multiple tie-up docks, a boat ramp and parking area for trailers, plus a showerhouse for longer stays. Green River Lake itself is an 8,000-surface-acre body of water within a larger Corps project of 33,793 acres, and while the campground provides direct shoreline access, three full-service marinas and ten public ramps around the lake expand boating options for wake sports, jet skiing and longer outings. Pikes Ridge sits about 10 12 miles east of Campbellsville off KY-70 and KY-76, with directional signs leading down Pikes Ridge Road to the loops. Anglers will find a variety of fish in the lake walleye, crappie, white bass, channel catfish, muskie and bluegill are all commonly caught and miles of lakeside trails offer good hiking and wildlife viewing; the surrounding public lands also support hunting seasons for deer, turkey, small game and waterfowl. The Corps Visitor Center and the Atkinson-Griffin Log Cabin are roughly 24 miles away near the dam, and historic sites including the Abraham Lincoln birthplace and Mammoth Cave National Park lie within about an hour's drive. The facility is seasonally staffed (mid-May through late September in the most recent schedule); call (270) 465-6488 when staff are on site or (270) 465-4463 for general information when unstaffed. Note the reservation policy: date changes that move you outside your original reservation period incur a $10 change fee, and no-shows are charged $20 plus the first night's use fee.
