“Had a pretty good visit. We were only there as a base camp. We spent most of our time seeing sites in the area. There was 1 rest room/shower area closed down with no explanation. the area was fairly quite during our stay.”
“Love the campground. Only wish the rangers were more interactive , especially with the kids. A smile and friendly personality would go along way in their positions. ”
“Our family had a great time. They campground is very clean, well maintained, and quiet. Very convenient to the lake.”

Holmes Bend Campground sits on the Highland Rim along the forested, rolling shores of Green River Lake, where 8,000 surface acres of water carve shallow coves and long fingers into the surrounding landscape. The campground is a good base for water-centered outings: the lake supports boating, jet skiing, wakeboarding and other water sports from ten public boat ramps and three full-service marinas clustered around the shoreline, and anglers can expect walleye, crappie, white bass, channel catfish, muskie and bluegill in season. On land, miles of multi-use trails follow the lakeshore and weave through woodlands and meadows popular with hikers, horseback riders and birdwatchers and hunters use the varied habitats for deer, turkey, small game and waterfowl. Within a short distance of the campground are a swimming beach, a courtesy dock and fishing pier, a marina with rental cabins, the Corps visitor center and the historical Atkinson-Griffin Log Cabin, and larger regional sites such as the Abraham Lincoln birthplace and Mammoth Cave National Park are within roughly an hour's drive. The campground itself contains 125 campsites that accommodate both RVs and tents, arranged across five loops Loop A (23 sites), Loop B (20), Loop C (41), Loop D (26) and Loop E (15). Of those sites, 40 have electric hookups only and 62 offer both water and electric hookups; flush toilets, showers, drinking water and individual fire rings help make overnight stays comfortable. Onsite family amenities include a playground and an interpretive trail, and within about a mile you'll find a reservable picnic shelter, additional playgrounds and restrooms, and a boat ramp. The staffed season typically runs from mid-April through late October; during that period call (270) 384-4623 to reach local staff, and call (270) 465-4463 for general information when the site is unstaffed in winter. If you reserve a site, note the reservation policy: changing your dates outside the original reservation window carries a $10 change fee, and no-shows are charged a $20 fee plus the first night's use fee. To reach Holmes Bend from the nearby town of Columbia, follow the Cumberland Parkway toward Exit 49 and continue on highways 55/551 to Holmes Bend Road and follow signs to the campground.
