Spring Creek Campground sits along the gentle ribbon of Spring Creek in the Hitt Mountains of western Idaho at about 4,750 feet, shaded by tall ponderosa pine and fir. The site collection is small and straightforward: there are 12 total campsites, and all 12 accommodate both RVs and tent camping, with picnic tables and metal fire rings provided at each site. The loop also includes accessible vault toilets and a potable water spigot, plus a larger group picnic site that can handle up to 100 guests. Summer days can run hot, but the overhead canopy softens the heat and the creek offers a pleasant place to sit and fish. You'll reach the campground by heading north from Weiser on Highway 95 onto Upper Mann Creek Road/Forest Road 009; the road travels deeper into Payette National Forest and into a network of trails and backcountry access points. Outdoor options are broad here because Spring Creek is set inside a 2.3-million-acre national forest with multiuse trails and water recreation nearby. Within a few miles you'll find hiking, mountain biking and off-highway vehicle routes, and the Sturgill Peak Trail climbs to a 7,289-foot summit with a 1934 fire lookout and sweeping views of the Hitt Range and the Wallowa Mountains to the west. Mann Creek Reservoir is roughly 15 miles away for boating and additional fishing or swimming opportunities. Practicalities: group site daily rates are tiered by size $15 for 1 25 people, $20 for 26 50, $25 for 51 75 and $30 for 76 100 and, depending on service at the campground, you may be able to pay for sites on arrival by scanning a QR code with the Recreation.gov mobile app; download that app before you leave home since cellular coverage can be limited in this area.
